Environmental Beauty Leader Aveda and Aveda Services Midwest Wichita Area Territory Seek to Raise $3.5 Million during Earth Month for Clean Water

Wichita Kansas, April 17th 2011— Together with Aveda, Wichita, McPherson, Hays, Beloit, Liberal, Ulysses, and Hutchinson Aveda Salon’s are holding our 3rd Annual Walk In The Park from 12:00pm to 2:30pm in Wichita starting at Herman Hill Park in honor of Earth Month.  This is all in support of organizations around the world working to protect access to clean water. Aveda Earth Month 2011 calls for strategic local and global action to protect local waterways, empower communities, and help make clean water accessible to everyone—everywhere to reach its goal of raising $3.5 million during the month of April. All funds from the event will support our local Earth Month partner, Audubon Mississippi Initiative.

LIGHT THE WAY™ EARTH MONTH CANDLE
In addition to A Walk In The Park, Aveda’s 2011 Earth Month campaign includes the launch of a limited edition Light the Way™ soy wax candle sold during the month’s of March and April. Featuring a stress-relieving aroma with certified organic French lavender, the candle is sold for Earth Month to raise funds and awareness for clean water rights across the globe. By donating at least $12.00 at any of our Aveda Salon’s you will receive a limited edition candle free while supplied last, and consumers can support Aveda’s global efforts to help make clean water accessible to all, and help raise $1.2 million. Aveda will donate 100 percent of proceeds from of the donation’s of the candle to its global Earth Month partner, Global Greengrants Fund. Additional individual promotion’s available in each salon also.

AVEDA WALK FOR WATER
On April 17, 2011 Local (Wichita) Aveda Salon’s and the Aveda network will participate in a global initiative that acknowledges the daily struggle of the more than one billion people around the world who do not have access to clean water. The Aveda Walk for Water campaign:
•   Unites the Company’s network and guests in a series of walks around the world to raise awareness, funds, and excitement of the need to protect clean water.
•   Is executed locally by Aveda salons and spas.
•   Will extend six kilometers—the average distance that women in developing countries walk to collect water each day.

Guests can visit www.avedaearthmonth.org, which will feature a customized site for online donations.

Also, visit your local Aveda Salon for a chance to win a Day Of Beauty just by donating above and beyond your walk enrollment fee.  100% of your generous donation’s go to clean our nation’s waters.
