Fans of Todd Rundgren launch Compassion Fund for Japanese Todd Rundgren Fans

Todd Rundgren fans worldwide are joining together to raise funds to assist with Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

March 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The concert going and social networking family of Todd Rundgren fans are reaching out to offer a hand of friendship and comfort to Rundgren fans in Japan who have suffered the earthquakes and tsunami of March 2011 through the creation of the Todd Rundgren Fan Family Compassion Fund.

Todd Rundgren, who for over 40 years has been at the forefront of music performance, creation, and production, has a dedicated global fan-base who are as passionate about his music as they are about his message of universal love and compassion.

He enjoys great popularity in Japan and has frequently expressed that he holds a very special place in his heart for Japan in general and his fans there specifically. He has plans to return to Japan to perform on July 29-31, 2011 during the Fuji Rock Festival at Naeba Ski Resort. (http://www.fujirockfestival.com/)

When the news of the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami began circling the globe on March 11, several fans sprung into action to create a website (http://www.shiningstill.com), fundraising structure, and promotional video (http://vimeo.com/21082400). Fund originator and film producer Ed Vidgor, and fund administrator and web designer Jean Lachowicz, spread the word through social networks and raised over $1000 in donations the first weekend.

After Todd Rundgren's wife Michele mentioned the fund on the March 15 installment of Rundgren Radio (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/runt), the fundraising accelerated and after its first week exceeds $6000. Michele Rundgren also announced that a new "compassion" t-shirt has been created and all profits from the on-line sale will be put toward Japan relief efforts (http://www.toddstore.com).

All donations collected will be sent to specially selected, active members of the Todd Rundgren Fan Family living in Japan for distribution in their communities. This fund is completely and entirely volunteer fan-initiated and fan-administered and holds no tax-exempt status. While Todd Rundgren is not in any way directly affiliated with this endeavor, he does support the compassionate effort of his fans helping each other during this crisis.

Rundgren is embarking on a five-concert tour beginning March 25 (http://www.sonsof1984.com) and fans will be on hand at all of the venues to pass out flyers advertising the fundraising efforts for Japan.
