Oserian commits to Employee Welfare

March 17, 2011 - PRLog -- The annual renewal and signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between Oserian Development Company Limited and Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Union (KPAU) took place at the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE). This year’s signing was held on Wednesday 23rd February.

This being the 3rd   renewal for the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Oserian Development Company Limited and Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Union, it depicts responsibility, dedication and thoughtfulness for the employees’ from both parties. By signing this agreement, Oserian commits itself to the welfare of its employees.

Speaking at the event, the Secretary General of Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Union (KPAU), Mr. Francis Atwoli, thanked Oserian for being supportive of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. He further said Oserian is among the few farms that have implemented this agreement with the union. He concluded by complementing Oserian for its effective employment policy.

The Director of Administration for Oserian Mr. T. G Tsakiris spoke on behalf of the company. He thanked KPAU for its support in the renewal of the agreement and urged other flower farms to increase wages for their workers. In addition, Mr. Theodore mentioned that the next signing will be in September, 2011.

Also present was Mr. Kobert Muthoga, the Chairman for Federation of Kenya Employers who thanked both parties and expressed confidence in them and made it clear that the agreement was on a win-win situation. He reiterated FKE’s support to both parties on such matters.

The National Constitution recognizes the role of the Collective Bargaining Agreement whose role is to cater to all agricultural and horticultural employees’ welfare and ensures that the renewed terms and services in it are adhered to by employers.
