Avantgarde Translations Helps Fairbanks Morse Engine Win Contract
Language and short timeframe no barrier for pursuing bid opportunity. Fairbanks Morse Engine gains multimillion dollar contract through turning around bid in less than one week with Avantgarde's assistance in translating 80-page RFP document.
“We rarely need a language services company, so use them sparingly,” stated Whittier. “This bid opportunity with EcoPetrol arose with a short turn-around requiring the translation of an 80+ page Request for Proposal document from Spanish to English. Then we needed to get the bid finalized and to them in less than a week’s time.”
According to Whittier, his company approached a couple of firms in their immediate area and none were willing to translate the document in such a short timeframe. So, he contacted Avantgarde Translations, and they not only were willing to get it done, but turned the translation of the most critical parts over the weekend to give his team time to prepare the bid. “I was impressed with the way in which Avantgarde managed this project. They took leadership in the process by guiding us in prioritizing the most critical portions of the document so that their translations would be supplied to us in the best manner to help us keep things moving on our end while preparing the bid. We won the bid because Avantgarde gave us the ability to respond, produce and compete.”
The contract was to replace two diesel engines for its natural gas power pumping stations in Colombia, South America. Valued at several million dollars, the contract has opened the door for future commercial opportunities and pursuits with EcoPetrol.
With this latest opportunity proving the value of a good language services resource, Whittier confirms, “Avantgarde Translations ability to manage the process, responsiveness and accuracy in the end product are all reasons why we won’t hesitate to pursue other opportunities.”
