Follow on Google News | Bridewater Council Insiders Ignores Voters WishesAlthough the voters sent a clear message when voting down the proposed Fire District budget in Bridgewater, some Councilmen who happen to hold the dual position of Fire Commissioners appear ready to override the decision of the voters.
By: Somerset County Tea Party Organization "We are not so happy with Councilman President Howard Norgalis and Councilman Allen Kurdyla denying the voters their say in the budget by overriding their desire to trim taxes but it really comes as no surprise. Both are Fire Commissioners" "Councilwoman Chris Rose has different take" he said."She thinks the voters were too dumb to know what they were voting for." Lefkowitz was referring to a quote from Rose that “These 80 people [who opposed] would be the first 80 people standing at the microphone if the Green Knoll Fire Department didn’t respond. I don’t believe the voters voted it down because they thought it had fluff, and I will not do anything that jeopardizes fire safety in the community.” Rose said. "In my opinion, it sounds like the same attitude Congress and Obama took with Obamacare - they were smarter than us and would do what they liked, taxes be damned. For Congress, that didn't work out so well last November when voters kicked them out. Let's see if Bridgewater residents feel the same way next Council election." Lefkowitz said. # # # The Somerset Tea Party movement is an aggregate of Republicans, Democrats and Independents who deliberately set aside their own self interests to combat a major disconnect between voters and their elected officials.
