March 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Yesterday Swatch Group announced that they have agreed a deal with Liquidmetal Technologies Inc. The exclusive licencing agreement will allow Swatch to use Liquidmetal technology in their entire range of watches.

Swatch Group is one of the largest manufacturer of wrist watches in the world with a large number of brands including Longines, Tissot, Omega and Hamilton as well as their flagship brand Swatch watches. They employ around 25 thousand workers around the world and last year they had a turnover of almost 6.5 billion Swiss Francs.

Liquidmetal Technology was first used in the Omega Seamaster in 2009. The alloy made by the technology has an amorphous atomic structure making it easier to form structures which will keep their shape once they have solidified. Liquidmetal alloys are a class of metals that have superior properites made possible through groundbreaking technological and scientific innovations.

Based in California, Liquidmetal Technologies Inc. is at the forefront of developing amorphous alloys and composites in bulk for commerical usage. Using the technology manufacturers have been able to improve a wide variety of products which are constructed of metal parts.
