March 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Seven United States Citizens, including Adrian Woolcock, Managing Principal of ProSidian Consulting, and a driver were robbed on Caledonia Road In Mandeville, Jamaica West Indies while traveling to a funeral.  The Larceny occurred at the KFC on Caledonia Road in Mandeville while the travelers stopped for dinner.  The robbery took place on the main parking lot in front of several witnesses and next to the drive through window.

The travelers arrived on the island on Friday for a funeral in St. Elizabeth on Saturday.  Having traveled for many hours and being hungry and tired, they stopped at Kentucky at Caledonia Road in Mandeville.  Perpetrators entered parked Mini-Bus and stole seven (7) pieces of luggage and other valuables including the following:  six (6) passports, three (3) birth certificates, two (2) laptops, three (3) DVD players, one (1) high-powered professional camera and lens, one (1) camcorder, an external hard drive, duty free items, college textbooks, clothing, and approximately $5,000 in US cash.

Mandeville police were non responsive after several calls for assistance and instructed the victims to leave the scene of the crime and report the incident to the police station approximately ten (10) blocks from the incident.  After several calls and urging from family members on another side of the parish, the police arrived within approximately two (2) hours.  The three officers who arrived at the scene were dressed in Friday evening civilian clothes; neglected to identify themselves; did not provide proper identification, and did not follow appropriate police crime scene protocol.

There were several witnesses including the three (3) security guards employed by the Caledonia Road KFC however, all including the security guards declined to provide a statement of identify witnesses.  Two (2) KFC security guards were inside KFC while the robbery took place.  No whiteness statements were taken and the victims were given a receipt number and instructed that a formal report will be available within three (3) days on the next Monday.  On the third day, after traveling forty (40) minutes to return to the station and collect the police report, they were told the report was not ready and to return another day.

The victims contacted Owen Lloyd Ellington, CD, JP, Commissioner of the Jamaica Constabulary Force who in turn communicated with commanding officer for Manchester, Superintendent Lascelles Taylor in the Town of Mandeville, Jamaica West Indies.

The victims also contacted the Justice of the Peace in St. Elisabeth and spoke with Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie who attended the funeral and who offered to assist in the event the Mandeville authorities were non responsive.  The media was also contacted and a plea was made to Kirk Abrahams of the RJR Radio Station in Jamaica to “return the passports and keep the remaining items”.  A cash reward will be made in the sum of $1000.00 US for the return of the passports, as the victims cannot return to the US without proper travel documents.

The US State department has also been contacted to communicate with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to replace the passport.  Although the investigation and prosecution of the crime are solely the responsibility of local authorities, consular officers have helped understand the local criminal justice process facilitate the reprocessing of the required travel documents.

The travelers are now in a very precarious position and have no choice but to delay travel plans due to this misfortune, not to mention the costs involved to replace stolen items.

Any information that can assist in the recovery of the will serve in enabling the expedient and safe return of the Seven United States Citizens.  The passports will be of no use to the perpetrators.  A cash reward will be made in the sum of $1000.00 US for the return of the passports, as the victims cannot return to the US without proper travel documents.
