By: Rice Law, PLLC Rice Law will open an office at 108 W Wilmington Street, Burgaw, North Carolina which is just across from the Pender County Judicial Annex within the next few months. The property is approximately 100 feet from the Frances Basden Judicial Annex, where the majority of family law cases in Pender County are now heard, about one block from the Pender County Courthouse, and immediately beside Calvins Computer Service and Sales. Demolition of the interior of what originally was a fellowship hall for a local church and most recently was a tanning salon is complete. Richard Forrest Kern, Esq., one of the firm's attorneys, and Mark Spencer Williams completed the interior demolition this week. The plans include two state of the art conference rooms that will facilitate video conferencing, mediations and trial preparation activities. "We have longstanding ties to the Pender County community" said Mark Spencer Williams, attorney and Managing Member of Rice Law. "I tried my first case in Pender County in the old courthouse as a third year law student and was later sworn in to practice law in that very courthouse." The firm plans to have a full time paralegal at the Burgaw location and its attorneys will meet with clients there on a regular basis. Glenda M. Hudgens, a Pender resident and paralegal with over five years experience serving Pender County in Burgaw, has been hired to staff the Pender county office. "We believe we are the largest family law firm in the Wilmington area and will bring resources to Burgaw that were not locally available" said Williams. "We are excited about this expansion because it will allow us to better serve the residents of Pender County." # # # Rice Law provides legal counsel in the areas of family and education law.
