March 11, 2011 - PRLog -- New York, NY February 2011 – Hampton, a leader in innovative flatware, cutlery, barware and kitchen solutions, introduces the DuraCeramica Collection – a stylish and colorfully bold addition to the kitchen. Hampton fabricates DuraCeramica with a breakthrough manufacturing process that turns high quality ceramic into an ultra strong, ultra sharp blade that should never need sharpening. Hampton DuraCeramica comes in four fresh and appealing colors with durable soft grip ergonomic ABS handles.

“Ceramic blades are all the rage in cutlery now for their long lasting sharpness and effortless cutting ability,” states Suso Balanza, Vice President of Sales for Hampton. “Our unique vision for the DuraCeramica collection was to enhance the blade technology for strength and then add fashion colors, plus an ergonomic handle design to appeal to a younger lifestyle consumer. The products on the market currently are bland knives with plain black plastic handles and white blades. DuraCeramica is a step up, while maintaining affordability.”

About Ceramic Knives
-   Ceramic knifes are made out of zirconium oxide (ZrO2). Zirconia is very hard; it ranks 8.5 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, compared to 6 to 6.5 for hardened steel, giving it a very hard edge that stays sharper longer than steel.
-   Ceramic knives will not rust. Their chemical inertness to both acids and alkalis and their ability to retain a cutting edge makes them a very good culinary tool for slicing and cutting through boneless meat, vegetables and fruits. (As with metal knives, ceramic blades can be damaged cutting frozen foods and bones.)
-   Because these knives aren’t porous, there’s less worry about odor (or spice) transfers and they are cleanable with a quick rinse, making them more hygienic than their metal counterparts.
