Jackpot Party lifts the lid on how Britain likes to celebrate

Jackpot Party®, the brand new home of online gaming, has commissioned research looking into the nation’s party habits and discovered the profile of the archetypal British party-goer.

British people are making their own fun. The Jackpot Party ‘Celebration Nation’ research found that the cold winter has led to an increase in ‘stay at home parties’. 2011 will see us celebrating in more creative ways, with 27% of Brits agreeing that they would be enjoying dinner parties in 2011, closely followed by those hosting house parties with friends (20%).

Surprisingly the Royal Wedding effect doesn’t seem to have impacted our party plans for 2011. Only 6% of Brits agreed that they would like to attend a street party, leading to them coming in 6th place behind cocktail parties, fancy dress parties and tea parties.

Where do the top ‘stay at home’ party goers live?
•   Aberdeen residents can’t wait to go to dinner parties in 2011; 50% said they would love to be invited to dinner by friends
•   Brighton is the house party capital of the UK; 51% of residents said they would mostly be going to house parties this year
•   Liverpudlians are the most glamorous party goers; they would prefer to attend cocktail parties more than anyone else (29%)
•   Portsmouth is the fancy dress capital; residents of the historic seaside town are looking forward to dressing up more than anyone else in 2011 (34%)

When looking at what British party-goers get up to at parties, it seems that British men are mostly concerned with getting to the bar first (26.25%), while women are too busy being fashionably late (23.25%). Women are more likely than their male counterparts to leave a party early (15% and 11% respectively) while men are more likely to stay until the very end (16% compared to 14%).

Sadly both sexes admit that they rarely dance at parties with a quarter of Brits (25%) saying they rarely get up to strut their stuff and 10% saying that they never dance.

The Male Party Profile
•   Would most like to attend dinner parties in 2011
•   Is always the first at the bar
•   He rarely dances at parties
•   6% of them always end up with a kiss at the end of the night
•   Thinks the Black Eyed Peas and Lady Ga Ga are the top two ultimate party starting acts



The Female Party Profile
•   Would also most like to attend dinner parties in 2011
•   Is always fashionably late
•   Is more likely to embarrass herself at a party than her male counterpart
•   Would rather invite Russell Brand and Peter Andre to her parties than David Beckham
