March 10, 2011 - PRLog -- The RDL//nano, has been launched in 2011 by Caption Data Ltd, the specialists in on line real time data logging from remote locations. Designed from scratch to solve the need for remote, self powered, self contained, robust, small, yet powerful units with a variety of input output configurations.
The nano is already in use in applications as diverse as environmental monitoring and alarming in a mansion refurbishment in central London, to monitoring chemicals in water supplies at remote locations with the MOD, to reporting data from sewage pumping stations Modbus controllers.
In all cases the data is streamed via the latest on-board quad modems to the CDL web bureau allowing clients real time access from any pc or smart phone, anywhere in the world. This includes automated graphical display of data and trends, reconfiguring of the sampling and reporting rates and alarm-setting  conditions. Alarms on any input condition can be sent by SMS or email. An almost unlimited number of user permissions can be granted to offer access from any internet enabled PC or smart phone to the data, which is securely maintained by CDL.
With options for mains power or battery operation, the nano can be totally independent of the clients’ infrastructure, and with on-board data memory and in the case of powered versions an on-board UPS system, the data is secured.
In the nano – a [Analogue ] version almost any signal input from up to 8 analogue inputs can be accommodated, including 0-20mA; 4-20mA; 0-1 v DC; 0-10 v DC. In the nano –m  [Modbus] configuration the nano can request data from any device with serial output typically used for M2M applications. In the nano CO2 monitor, sensors use NDIR technology and 0-2000 ppm sampling rates, and have been authenticated across a temperature range from -25°C  to 55°C.

Units are completely self-contained, housed in IP65 flanged ABS enclosures, with power, modem, on-board memory, UPS, batteries, antennae, and coloured indicators to confirm operations locally. Simplicity for use by technicians in remote locations mean they nano’s are designed to be switched on “straight from the box” with quick coloured light sequence and a text message to the commissioning technician confirming modem signal viability, along with a snapshot of readings.

Exploiting the latest manufacturing technology and modular design the cost of the nano is pleasingly realistic, allowing a rapid return on investment, and as a result of the “clean page” design approach the footprint is amazingly compact for the level of functionality offered. This may be particularly important where discreet monitoring is required.

Caption Data Ltd design and supply specialist self contained remote data logging systems, providing data on line and real time, with remote configuration, automatic data trending and presentation,  and alarm setting.
