March 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Sanibel Sea School and BIG ARTS present the 2010 Blue Ocean Film Festival Winner "Bag It," followed by question and answer with the film's Director, Suzan Beraza. BLUE Ocean Film Festival is a global film festival and conservation summit for underwater filmmakers and marine researchers.
Film and discussion will be in BIG ARTS Schein Performance Hall, located at 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. Film begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13. Admission is $10, Student/Child free with paying adult.
Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every five minutes, disposable bags that they throw away without much thought. But where is “away?” Where do the bags and other plastics end up, and at what cost to the environment, marine life, and human health?
"Bag It" follows “everyman” Berrier as he navigates our plastic world. Jeb is not a radical environmentalist, but an average American who decides to take a closer look at our cultural love affair with plastics. His journey in this documentary film starts with simple questions: What are plastic bags made from? What happens to plastic bags after they are discarded? What he learns quickly grows far beyond plastic bags.
Bag It is the direct result of a pledge filmmaker Suzan Beraza made a few years ago to stop using plastic bags. Her pledge became a documentary, which has won many film awards.
Sanibel Sea School is a non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation through experiential education. BIG ARTS mission is to provide quality cultural and educational experiences to the residents and visitors of Sanibel, Captiva, and neighboring communities.
