After he graduated from the University of Glasgow in Scotland as a certified veterinarian, Dr. Kreiner opened a practice in the city Maccabim (nearby Ben Gurion Airport) and focused on orthopedic and eye surgery alongside general veterinarian procedures. Subsequent to a greater interest from clients interested in flying pets to/from Israel, he realized his professional knowhow is essential for pet imports and exports.
Dr. Kreiner: "The world had turned into a Global Village in which people travel frequently from one side to another. As it became easier for people to immigrate and relocate worldwide, it has become more difficult and even challenging to fly with pets or ship them abroad at a global level. Countries' rules and regulations had become more and more strict with demand for health certificates, import permits, vaccinations and even blood test, and that is before mentioning cargo mandatory and quarantine. Also, the airport and airline' requirements have become much more demanding when it comes to pet shipping by adding diverse requirements such as airline approved kennel that has to be secured throughout the flight, strict weight and or breed limitations etc."
The publics' demand for pet flight services on one hand and the new rules and standards for shipping pets on the other hand signaled to Dr. Kreiner and his colleagues at the House Of Veterinary Doctors that it was time to open a professional pet travel agency that will provide safe, legal and convenient solutions to ship pets to/from Israel and the whole Middle East region and by 2006 Terminal4Pets was established.
Dr. Kreiner: "Our main objective is to provide our clients with optimal pet flight solutions that are "custom maid" for each and every one. The comprehensive services we hand out begin with evaluation of the pets' medical condition in order to determine whether the pet is healthy enough to survive: 1.The flight. 2. The new climate. Then we examine the case thoroughly checking the rules and regulations for pet importation at departure and destination points in relevance to the pets breed, medical condition etc. This is just to determine whether the pet can fly from one country to the other in accordance to regulations at both sides and without jeopardizing the pet."
After the evaluation, the pet flight team starts coordinating the pet shipping process that includes: documentation, airline tickets for people and pets, veterinary checks, preventive treatments and vaccinations, kenneling, locating pet boarding facilities for overnight stops, arranging shuttles to/from the airports and other ground services at the airport.
When pets are imported to Israel, hence when they make Aliyah, they are entitled to a free medical check and consultation in regards to: preventive treatments and vaccinations according to their new environment and free registration in the Israeli microchip-pool according to the requirements stated by the Minister of agriculture.
Dr. Eytan Kreiner: "A dramatic increase in demand for pet flight services is ahead of us this summer. According to inside information 9,000 pets are scheduled to be imported or exported to Israel during the summer rush (July-August-
