Hydrex congratulate Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council for national waste accolade

March 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Hydrex Equipment (UK) Ltd would like to congratulate Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council after being awarded the Waste Management Award at the Government Business Awards. The event was hosted by BBC news presenter Bill Turnbull and acknowledges effective business practices within the public sector.  

The award, sponsored by Hydrex, was presented to the Local Authority that demonstrated an environmentally sound and cost effective waste management programme that reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill and provides a high level of service to residents.

Since agreeing a seven-year deal with its private sector partner, the borough council has more than doubled its kerbside recycling rates from 26% to 55% in just eight months. Food waste is being put to good use and produces enough electricity to power 1,300 homes in the region.
