Children's Hospital Reduces Short-Term Turnover From 24% to Less Than 1%

A prominent children's hospital implemented a comprehensive selection approach, with the goal of creating a culture of patient-centered care and reducing short-term turnover. In the first 6 months, the hospital's turnover went from 24% to under 1%.

In the six months prior to the project, short-term turnover was 24%.  In the first six months using the new approach, the hospital has lost only two of the 450 employees hired.  This means a turnover cost savings estimated at $750,000 and the ability to create the type of staffing consistency that is critical to high-quality care and a patient-focused culture.
