Coulter Infiniti Service Department Offers Much More Than Your Neighborhood Garage

Regularly scheduled maintenance keeps new cars under warranty, but the intricacy of today's automotive technology makes Dealership service more essential. Costly diagnostic equipment and training is often out of the reach of neighborhood garages.

March 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Savvy consumers are on the look-out for ways to save money, and automobile maintenance is no exception.  Neighborhood garages and quick-lube vendors offer an ever-broadening range of routine maintenance options from oil and filter changes to multi-point inspections, belt and hose changes, to tire and brake services of all kinds.  Although the "advertised price" of independent garage services is just the starting point for up-selling additional "while you're here, you might as well have us do yadda yadda yadda," dealerships traditionally come out costing a bit more in the end.

But could it be that the difference is more than just cost?  A recent New York Times article by Alina Tugend addressed the trade-offs of the dealership service department versus an independent service garage.  "You should know when your car is still under warranty and what that warranty covers. Otherwise, if something goes wrong within three years after you bought your car---which is the average time your car is covered in full---and if your independent mechanic is unscrupulous or ignorant, you may end up paying a lot for something you would have gotten for free at the dealer."

Tugend quotes Brian Hafer, vice president of AutoMD, who says that "car owners should not look just at labor costs (of a maintenance visit) but at the bottom line.  Especially in newer model cars needing complex repairs, dealers will sometimes have more sophisticated diagnostic equipment than independents."

It stands to reason that there would be a relationship between the multi-million dollar automotive safety and engine efficiency research and the cost of the diagnostic equipment required to keep those components in perfect condition.  Add to those features the billion-dollars of technological research that goes into the "personal comfort" features of luxury cars...soft flowing air vents, heated and cooled seats, multi-station television, power windows, roofs, cargo compartments to name a few...and the gap between diagnostic and repair knowhow in a neighborhood shop versus a dealership widens even more.
In addition to having the capital to invest in complex diagnostic equipment, a high-volume dealer like Coulter Infiniti in Mesa, AZ has the staff density that allows time for its mechanics the opportunity to constantly update their training and factory certifications. Infiniti-specific training broadens the knowledge of Coulter Infiniti’s technicians, as it focuses on Infiniti’s sophisticated electrical system, their innovative engines, chassis design, drive train, and their one-of-a-kind climate control systems.

Infiniti-specific training is equally important for consumers who purchase pre-owned Infiniti’s from Coulter Infiniti.  The dealership offers the buyer the confidence of knowing their certified pre-owned vehicles are backed by warranty coverage and have not had after-market parts installed that may void a warranty should a problem occur.  "We see a quality service department experience as an investment in keeping our customers for life," says Coulter Infiniti General Manager, Greg DePaola. " When our owners trade in an Infiniti that we have maintained, it is a strong candidate for inclusion in our 'Certified Pre-owned' program. As the pre-owned sales leader in Phoenix, an automobile we have serviced at Coulter Infiniti with certified technicians and parts lets us extend the Infiniti ownership experience to the buyer of that car."

Only Infiniti models less than four years old and with less than 60,000 miles qualify for the program, and they must pass a rigorous inspection.  Buyers of a Certified Pre-Owned Infiniti receive a 72-month/100,000 total-vehicle-mile warranty, roadside assistance, trip interruption benefits and towing assistance that is designed to provide the peace of mind Infiniti ownership is famous for.  "We value our relationship with our customers, says DePaola and consider 'service after the sale' to be one of the strongest ways we have to keep them with us year after year. Our 'Service Valet' program takes the hassle out of keeping our customer's cars in showroom shape, and we offer seasonal 'specials' to make service at Coulter Infiniti reasonable as well."

Coulter Infiniti is located in the hub of Phoenix’s East Valley, serving Ahwatukee, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Scottsdale, and Tempe, Arizona.  They are proud of their “A” rating with the Better Business Bureau, and can be accessed at www.coulterinfiniti.com.  Take a test drive in one of the "Best Luxury Brand for 2011". Located just off of I-60 at the Superstition Springs exit, it is convenient to the loop 202, Red Mountain Freeway, linking Maricopa County with easy access to Pinal and Pima County.
