iliterati launches Author of The Month Feature

March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- London author David Slater has the honour of becoming the first writer to be profiled as ‘Author of the Month’ on authors’ social network iliterati.com. iliterati, which launched in January 2011, aims to connect aspiring author with readers looking to discover a wider choice of writing than is available in bookshops. The honour sees David profiled on iliterati’s home page as well as featuring an extensive interview detailing David’s motivation for writing and reasons for joining iliterati.

In a moving and uplifting interview, David, who suffers from partial hearing loss and cerebal palsy, reveals how his inspiration stems from his battles with disability, and how writing helps him escape from  “a battle between what I want to do and my body’s limitations. This causes much frustration, and I often feel like I am on a see-saw, drifting between the two worlds of ability and disability”.

Iliterati.com founder Dave Connors said, “iliterati is dedicated to helping new writers find a public and put their work out there, and the Author of the Month profile is an extension of that. By profiling an author on our home page for a month, we are really increasing that writer’s exposure. Our hope is that when browsers start to check out the Author of the Month, they are drawn in to the site and start to discover the other writers, too.”

Referring to the choice of Slater as the first Author of the Month, Connors said, “David jumped on board on day one, which was a great boost to the site to show us there were authors out there looking for a platform. Since joining the site David has played a full part in the community, not only uploading his own work but downloading the work of other authors and leaving them feedback. Coupled with his inspiring story this made him the perfect and logical choice to be the first Author of the Month.”
