Carbon Neutral Energy Group: Polish and Austrian carbon registries cleared to reopen.

European Commission gives Austrian and Polish emission registries the go-ahead to reopen on 07 March.

March 7, 2011 - PRLog -- “This decision follows completion by the commission of its review of reports from the two countries national registries on the adequacy of their security measures,” Carbon Neutral Energy Group learnt from the Commissions website.

Austria is the first of the registries to suffer a cyber attack in the past three months which will be allowed to reopen.

On the 10th of January, cyber criminals stole about 488,000 EUA’s form a government account at the registry, as earlier reported by Carbon Neutral Energy Group.

The latest announcement means a total of 15 registries have now been given the go ahead to reopen, meaning half of the 30 which were told to close down by the commission in January after the spate of robberies have now passed their minimum security checks.

Bulgaria, Ireland and Norway’s registries resumed operations on March 4th.
