March 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Prayer/Life Up wins eWorld Music Award
After a number of awards and accolades, Prayer/Life has walked away with the eWorld Music Award for the Country/Folk/Faith categories.  The award was announced at the eWorld Music Awards Show at world-famous SIR Studios in Hollywood, California during Grammy Weekend. Prayer/Life appeared on the red carpet with a celebrity crowd of award nominees and winners. The band was selected by a blue ribbon panel of judges made up of well-known songwriters and producers to be one of 5 nominees in their category.  Then fans voted on the Boomerang Media Station for the outstanding Christian duo to capture the award.
Infusing soul and incredible depth into an intoxicating blend of contemporary folk and new age music—this is the rock solid foundation for one of the hottest up and coming groups in the Christian genre. The duo of Andrea Davis-Griffin and John Stallworth teamed up to form the inspiring and thought-provoking creation known as Prayer/Life while delivering a positive message driven by faith.
Drawing comparisons to artists such as Sarah MacLachlan, George Winston, Sara Groves, and Enya, Prayer/Life quickly rose through the ranks of contemporary Christian music by blending elements of pop, folk, and new age to create a unique and peaceful sound. Their debut record, In Our Midst, is laden with lyrics meant to serve as a backdrop for meditation and reflection while praising the grace of God and delivering His message through beautiful song. Both band members collaborate on the music, lyrics and arrangements, while Davis-Griffin provides rich vocals and flute with Stallworth plays masterful piano, keys, and synths.  This first album was produced by Patrick Siegel of New Artist Avenue and recorded by Grammy-winning engineer, Bill Whittington (Amy Grant, Newsboys, Casting Crowns).  The vocals were coached by Debra Byrd of American Idol.
Prayer/Life has performed a number of times since 2007 at various coffee shops and church events, including an awards show at the Then and Now Gospel Showcase in Los Angeles. Internet radio stations are also picking up on their well-honed songwriting abilities, as IndieHeaven, Live365, Urban Soul Radio, and are all currently spinning a selection of their tunes. 13,000+ international fans have joined their Jango and Facebook  fan groups to express enthusiasm for the band’s mission.  The group received national recognition when “I Cover My Face” and “Trouble (Notes from Jail)” each took home awards in 2010 in the 17th Annual Billboard World Song Contest.  Now framed CD’s from Billboard hang on their music studio wall.
Garnering press, radio, and media attention continues to fuel Prayer/Life’s soulful fire, as they aim to expand their musical reaches even further in 2011. New songs are in the works for their second album, as well as a companion book for In Our Midst, which will contain daily scripture study guides and further exploration of the record’s lyrical content. Visit the group’s official Sonicbids, MySpace, or Facebook pages for songs, photos, and much more.
