Slate can be used in many places in the home to create unique styles and add elegance and originality to any home.
Slate tiles are known to be incredibly durable and strong and this is what makes them an excellent choice for flooring in rooms like the kitchen and bathroom.  Slate tiles are also non absorbent which is why they are an excellent solution for kitchen and bathroom areas where there is a lot of moisture. Stains will also not be obviously apparent on slate tiles and any spillages can easily be cleaned and your slate tiles restored back to their natural state.
Other places slate tiles can be used are on kitchen countertops, slate is relatively inexpensive in comparison to other countertop materials and the rustic colours and styles will add a real unique design to any kitchen. Slate tiles are incredibly strong and will withstand areas that have lots of traffic like the kitchen, stains and spillages are easily removed. If you are considering slate tile for kitchen countertops, it is always advices that you have the tiles sealed first, this ensures that your slate tile will retain its appearance and beauty.
Another area that is ideal for slate tiles is the hallway area of homes, they are especially suitable for areas where there is a door entry and are a great alternative to carpets which mark easily and stain. Slate is especially good for entries that lead out into garden areas and porch areas where the floor is likely to become soiled.
Slate tiles with the same uniformed colour but in different sizes are a popular design choice and works especially well in kitchens and bathrooms. Cleaning slate tiles is also relatively easy and in general they are a low maintenance tile. Warm water on its own can be used and is perfectly adequate in the cleaning of slate tiles. The area needs to be brushed clear of any lose dirt particles before attempting to clean the area with water. There are also lots of cleaners on the market that will clean and protect your slate tile but you must ensure that the cleaner you select is the right cleaner for slate tiles. Acid based cleaner’s should not be used as these can damage the tile.
