March 4, 2011 - PRLog -- Queens, NY - In Home Pet Services, Inc. (IHPS) (http://www.inhomepetservices.com) has just announced their philanthropic partnership with For Our Friends a non-for-profit animal rescue group located in Oakland Gardens, NY. (Queens).  For Our Friends is an all volunteer animal rescue group that rescues often overlooked discarded and senior dogs and is supported solely by donations.  The new partnership with IHPS and For Our Friends will provide the rescue with much needed new and used pet products such as: leashes; collars; pet beds; dog car ramps; crates; pet toys; and more.

While looking for non-for-profit animal rescue group that In Home Pet Services could directly work with, it was important that the group was local to their community and went above and beyond to help local animals.  Robyn Elman IHPS President and Founder had this to say, “When one of our clients, "Beethoven" passed away, his owner Lorraine asked us if we could donate some of his items, including some arthritis supplements and a car ramp. I realized I didn't have a ‘go-to’ place that I could donate items to - and with over 950 clients I often have people with crates or pet toys that they don't need anymore. After some research, I decided that I would contact For our Friends (FOF). They are in local to us in Queens and they are a dog rescue group made up of all volunteers.  The thing I liked best about them was that they take dogs that most other shelters and rescues won't - like older dogs, Pit Bulls and Rottweilers.  In addition one of their volunteers lives a couple of blocks away from me and was able to pick up the donations we have already received. They are also supported by a lot of the same pet organizations that I am also involved with.  I am so happy to be able to partner with them to help with their incredible outreach they do for pets in our community.”

Clients of IHPS and anyone in the community can donate new and used, (in good condition), dog products directly to Robyn and her staff, and Robyn has already put the word out to all of her clients and donations are starting to pour in.  All locations of IHPS will also do periodic pet product donation drives to help For Our Friends even more.

“I am thrilled and how wonderful it is of Robyn, her clients and employees to help us out. We can surely use it too! We have had a lot of expenses this past year or so, surgeries for hip dysplasia, cancer, etc.,” said Freddie Szilagyi the President of For Our Friends.  The arthritis items all went to lovely Brooke a sweet old Labrador mix, who is being fostered right now. "Brooke, a lady Lab mix of about 12 or 13 years is grateful to In Home Pet Services for the ramp and arthritis supplements, they are making her feel young and spry again!"

As for monetary donations, people can go directly to www.forourfriends.org and For Our Friends is always looking for volunteers, anyone interested can call 718-595-2161. Volunteering would involve walking and socializing the dogs, going to adoptions events at Petco and helping out with adoptions in any way possible.
