Twenty-five injured service members of Team Semper Fi to take part in Reedley, CA Blossom Ride

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, founded by Fresno native Karen Guenther, will be sending 25 members from Team Semper Fi to take part in this weekend’s Reedley Lions Club’s 22nd Annual Kings River Blossom Bike Ride.

March 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Reedley, CA – The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund ( http://www.semperfifund.org ) will be sending 25 members from Team Semper Fi to take part in this weekend’s 22nd Annual Kings River Blossom Bike Ride (http://www.blossombikeride.com).

Team Semper Fi (TSF) (http://semperfifund.org/team-semper-fi/) is an athletic sports team made up of more than 220 injured servicemembers who compete in athletic events across the country.

With their motto “Recovery Through Sport,” Team Semper Fi is a rehabilitative sports program
offered by the Semper Fi Fund. The team is made up of servicemen and women who have
overcome significant challenges and refused to let their injuries prevent them from competing in athletic events. Our team members are also given the opportunity to receive Olympic Training through our partnership with the US Paralympics (http://usparalympics.org/usoc-paralympic-military-program/team-semper-fi)

The Semper Fi Fund (SFF) (http://www.semperfifund.org)is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and quality of life solutions for Marines and Sailors, as well as members of the Army, Air Force and Coast Guard who serve in support of Marine forces, when they become injured in post 9-11 combat or training operations, or they face life threatening illness or injury. Our fund provides relief to qualified Servicemembers and their families for immediate financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery, as well as perpetuating needs such as home modifications, customized transportation and specialized equipment.

SFF has awarded close to 26,000 financial grants totaling more than $45,000,000.00!

The Semper Fi Fund was founded by Fresno native Karen Guenther, a registered nurse and
spouse of an active duty Marine who had first-hand knowledge of the challenges faced by
wounded Marines and Sailors returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. She, along with a dedicated group of military spouses established IMSFF in May of 2004.

When: March 5th before and after race. Races begin 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30am and end around
12:00pm. Lunch is from 12-2:00pm
