March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Alamitos, Calif.  – Residents of Los Alamitos and surrounding communities are invited to a free, day-long medical, dental and vision clinic at Lestonnac Free Clinic in Los Alamitos created specifically for Orange County residents without access to health care.
Lestonnac Free Clinics together with Mariners Church are partnering up again with local health care providers such as Birth Choice, St. Joseph Health and Healthy Smiles as well as the other non-profit community support organizations such as Food Finders to offer much needed medical care and health assessment for Orange County residents without access nor resources to the proper health care. This March 5th event is sponsored by UnitedHealth Care and Mariners Church.
Lestonnac Free Clinic and Mariners Church hosted the event for the first time in October 2010, at Lestonnac’s Orange location and recorded over 700 in attendance. Approximately 150 volunteers including medical professionals from the community worked throughout the event day at the clinic to take care of 500 patients.
This upcoming Los Alamitos clinic is expecting even bigger attendance,
Mariners Church started the medical and dental care ministries 2 years ago to provide outreach to those all over the world in need of vital healthcare services but with no access. Many volunteers wanted to pour back their hearts into their local communities yet lacked a conduit to provide these services. In August 2010, Chris Morris, the volunteer leader of the ministry was introduced to Ed Gerber, Executive Director of Lestonnac Clinics. The seed of the idea was planted to partnership and hold one day health clinics from several of the established Lestonnac Clinics locations throughout Orange County. Our overall joint plan is to hold 3-4 clinics a year and spread these much needed free healthcare services to various communities in Orange County.
Event attendees will receive an initial health screening and be directed to on-site medical, vision or dental clinics to receive free services. A St Joseph Hospital mobile vision unit will provide onsite vision screening, prescriptions and frames.  Participating patients will be able to pick up their prescription glasses within three weeks of the event.
As part of the event, Mariners volunteers will provide food and clothing donations from Mariners Resource Center, children’s games, music and lunch.
All services will be provided free of charge on a walk-in, first-come/first-served basis, regardless of economic condition or religious or church affiliation.  No reservations are required.
The Lestonnac – Mariners Free Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, March 5, 2011,  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. located at Lestonnac Clinic 3801 Katella Ave Los Alamitos, California next to the hospital.
