Pittsfield, MA to Celebrate 2012 New Year on April 1

March 2, 2011 - PRLog -- March 2, 2011, Pittsfield, MA:   In accordance with the classic Julian calendar, and the special significance of the date to the city, Pittsfield, Massachusetts will ring in the New Year on April 1, in an interactive performance and dance party event that will play with your wildest hopes and darkest fears about the year 2012.


Held in the ballroom of Jae's Spice, Prepocalypse will be presented by Go Pittsfield, a collective creative team that includes principal organizers of previous local events including the Pittsfield Prom, Zombie Pub Crawl, Berkshire Fools Festival, JRH Pittsfield Talent Show, Prtty Pitty Trivia at the Underground, and the recent Sex and Candy and Venus in Wonderland events at Jae's Spice over Valentine's Day weekend.

A short variety show performance featuring all surprise performers will begin at 9pm, followed by a dance party featuring sets by DJ Alan Wrench and DJ Young Champ. The upstairs of Jae's Spice will be transformed into a atmospheric experience tapping into all the mystique and speculation about 2012, part disaster shelter, part transcendent transformation... and part the kind of outlandishness befitting a New Year's bash on April Fools Day.

The party will feature a wall for writing or drawing 2012 predictions, live New Year's T-shirt making, a psychic fortuneteller, guest appearance by Dick Clark, video projections and live video interviews with attendees about their expectations for 2012.

Admission to the event is $12, but attendees are encouraged to bring two or more canned goods or other items of nonperishable food for an admission price of only $10.  Food will be collected in bulk in accordance with the state-of-emergency, pre-disaster theme of the party, then donated to support the kitchen at at St. Mary's Church.
