Full steam ahead for buoyant Peak Leisure Vehicles in wake of NEC success

“The Boat and Caravan show has proved to be another amazing success for us,” said Peak Leisure Vehicles director Claire Parsons. “Hall 3 was dedicated to motorhomes and the response we received to the new Bentleys and Peak Leisure Vehicles at the International Caravan and Motrorhome show last year meant we hoped this show would be good too, but things have simply gone better than we could have dreamed of, in terms of both serious enquires and hard sales.”

Highly regarded in the industry and by motorhome enthusiasts, this year’s show is already being hailed as the best yet, with celebrity appearances plus the latest outdoor equipment and motorhome specialists like Peak Leisure Vehicles. The show proved itself the perfect place for established enthusiasts and nervous novices alike to rub shoulders and see the latest products on offer in a relaxed and informal setting.

The financial outlook for the UK, together with the VAT rise and gloomy sales figures coming out of the car industry, coupled with the threat of further rises in fuel had led many commentators to predict a difficult year for motorhomes, but the enthusiasm seem by Peak Leisure Vehicles and others at this show would seem to be anecdotal evidence at least of a robustness to the motorhome market not shared by other sectors in the motoring industry.

“Customers realise buying a motorhome is a cost effective holiday solution,” said Claire. “People love the freedom and get up and go that only a motorhome can give them.

“Customers tend to take a couple of years looking before buying their first motorhome anyway and unlike a car, it’s more of a well considered purchase rather than an impulse buy. Our customers have never been put off by short term economic issues in the past, and it doesn’t look like this year will prove any different.”
