March 1, 2011 - PRLog -- The Pink Slipper Dance Studio, located in Noblesville, Ind., started off the 2010-2011 season with a bang.  Multiple additions and awards have dotted the studio's 10th season, something studio owner, Michele Stewart is more than excited about.

"The studio has grown so much over the past 10 years," Stewart said.  "We've added new classes, new groups, new students.  Pink Perfection was a great addition this year and I'm just so proud of all they have accomplished."

Pink Perfection formed in September 2010, comprised of dancers ages eight and older, who auditioned to be a part of the performance company.  In January, the company attended DanceMakers, Inc. in Indianapolis, a workshop and competition for local area dance studios.  Two dances, a tap and jazz performance, each earned second place within their respective age groups, marking a great start for the new addition.

The students weren't the only ones recognized at DanceMakers, Inc.  Stewart was pleasantly surprised to be the recipient of the Marjorie Perry Spirit award.  It recognizes a teacher who best exemplifies the love, dedication and enthusiasm that Perry had for dance.  Teachers from the Pink Slipper staff agreed there was no one more deserving.

"Miss Michele is everything the award is about," said long-time teacher, Susan Kinney. "She loves dance and it comes out in all that she does.  It's always about the students and making sure that they love what they are doing.  We are so proud of her."

Stewart and the studio earned other awards in February at the Indiana State Dance Championships held at Greenwood High School.  The competition, focused entirely on dance skill without the glitz and glamour of costumes, awarded Pink Perfection a High Second and First Place for their performances.  Co-director Tara Puckey was excited at the accomplishments of a first year program.

"Just starting off this year, we didn't know what to expect," Puckey said. "The girls have adjusted to a more demanding schedule and they have worked so hard this year.  I'm so glad the judges saw what we did."

To finish the great season, the Pink Slipper will cap it all off with their 10th Anniversary Gala on June 17 and 18 at Westfield High School.  The four shows will highlight the work of more than 400 students, from 3-year-olds to adults.  It will prove to be a fantastic end to a wonderful season of dance.
