New Mexico’s Most Sought-After Sex Offender Is Eventually Caught .

Feb. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- Jeffrey Merculief (41), had become one of New Mexico’s most wanted sex offenders.
Merculief was eventually apprehended in Albuquerque, NM. Merculief was initially hopeful for a job where he was overheard indicating to a bunch of individuals that he has become a fugitive who was on the run from the law and had not
registered as a sex offender. A alarmed resident overheard Merculief and instantly phoned
the Albuquerque Police Department.
Law enforcement officers showed up and started their questioning. Merculief
tried to conceal his personal identity from Police officers but he failed miserably. He was subsequently shipped to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department where he was interview by United States Marshals . Merculief later admitted that he covered up his personal identity to Law enforcement officers and that he was a fugitive.

Jeffrey Merculief (41) was initially found guilty in 1993 for child molestation and after that he was convicted in 2007 and 2008 for failing to abide with the sex offender registry prerequisites. He was discharged from jail in October 2010 and in addition he failed to register as a sex offender.

Merculief was taken and held by U.S. Marshals, South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) task force who carried out a operation that focuses on wanted criminals who are walking on local community streets.
