A Bangkok Business woman is inspiring fashion and being kind to Nature

In Times Square Bangkok the New Cherry Blossom shop has been open for around a year, and Anchalee the owner has developed a decent little business, many tourists are told about this shop, and many make a point of visiting whilst in Bangkok, it is very tastefully decorated and there are many different styles of bags to try.

I went to meet the lady who runs this shop and asked her why her clientele is so exclusive.

“My home town is Chiang Mai, and I grew up in Krung Thep (Bangkok). I have had various careers in media and the oil and gas industry. But I feel it’s every Thai person’s dream to own your own business and shops seem to be the norm.

I have always been interested in fashion and accessories and as a Thai woman, it feels very feminine, and you feel special with a distinctive hand bag, It is how woman express their individuality, however I was worried about the impact on our Thai wildlife that most bag manufacturers are having, so to me I wanted to balance nature with beauty and develop a range of bags that are inspired by nature.

I saw how the Thai villagers were making these bags by hand, with only materials of Bamboo, Rattan, Water Hyacinth and Sweet corn husk to present the charm of nature. I wanted to contribute to the Thai Village people’s community and the idea struck me to sell these direct to the public. Many of my clients are Japanese and they purchase these bags as they know they are being kind to nature, helping the Thai Villages, and being very stylish and fashionable at the same time”.
