Brand donates to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research

Feb. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- Eastern region marketing recruitment agency Brand Recruitment has recently made a donation to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Staff at the agency decided to allocate money to support the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research’s continued research and development for these blood cancers and disorders.

One of Brand’s family members are showing positive signs to recovery after eight years of living with a rare blood disease, Aplastic Anaemia. The key to her recovery was  a bone marrow transplant which was only possible from research carried out by the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Aplastic Anaemia is a rare blood disorder which causes failure in the blood production resulting in a lack of red cells (anaemia), white cells (leading to an increased risk of blood infection) and platelets (which are needed to prevent bleeding and bruising). This can be controlled by supportive treatment – regular blood transfusions – but definitive therapy in the form of bone marrow/stem cell transplant is needed in the long-term for survival. Although this blood disorder is not well known in comparison to leukaemia ‘family’, funding given by the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research has improved what is known about this disease.
