Having re-located to South Florida from Washington, DC, she discovered that it was a challenge to find rich, cultural events... for free!

Being able to access the daily concerts at the Kennedy Center; festivals, seminars, exhibits, and lectures at the Smithsonian; and tours and seminars to the National Zoo for free seemed a right rather than a privilege in DC and she was determined to find those same kinds of events in South Florida.

"It all happened because of random conversation with a complete stranger while relaxing on the beach in Fort Lauderdale.  A gentleman talked about how he enjoyed Florida but missed the rich cultural events of New York.  He described (with glee) the parades, festivals, art exhibits, and concerts he'd come to take for granted in the city that never sleeps."

"And, we discussed the possibility of those same kind of events being available in South Florida but not widely publicized“, said the marketing maven.

"A few months later, I sat down at my computer, having never created a website before, and designed and launched a fabulous, flash site.  I'd managed corporate websites for Fortune 100 firms, but I hadn't ever designed one", Patton said.

She created a site that features events, concerts, free access to museums, festivals, classes, seminars, and services..... in South Florida, and all free!

"Let's face it.  These are tough economic times. People still want to enjoy life, but they might not be able to afford the things they love.  I'm giving them an inside scoop on wonderful events that will create joy and happiness. So, I'm fulfilling the purpose for which I was born.  I may note be able to paint, sculp, or sing but I can tell you where you can find those things."

"I hope to expand the site to the rest of the state by the end of March 2011 - Jacksonville, Tampla, Naples, etc.  I'm also creating a special insider's tip sheet for Disney and a list of no-cost fun in Orlando.  I went to Disney World last year and did some research while exploring with my nieces", Patton said.

"I really want tourists to be able to use the site to find events before they plan their vacations.  And, locals can use the site to plan their weekends", said Patton with excitement.

The site features a special section just for kids, free services and products, and insiders tips on how to live like a Freebie.

Ms. Patton  has taken on the title of "freeologist" because it aptly describes her level of expertise.
