Follow on Google News | Stephen Baker Named as Keynote for Largest Virtual Conference in IT IndustryAuthor of Upcoming Book on IBM’s Watson Computer to Speak April 20 at DBTechCon
By: SSWUG.ORG Baker, former technology writer for BusinessWeek and author of the upcoming book, Final Jeopardy: Man vs. Machine and the Quest to Know Everything, will speak about how smart machines will fit into our world — and how they’ll disrupt it. He will cite specific examples from his book, where he analyzed the IBM-engineered computer named Watson that recently faced off in a nationally televised game against two of Jeopardy’s greatest all-time winners, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter. More information about Final Jeopardy can be found on Baker’s blog – www.finaljeopardy.net. “With Stephen willing to share stories from his work in the technology field and firsthand experiences around Watson’s creation, his keynote presentation will be an excellent educational experience for all who attend the upcoming DBTechCon,” said Stephen Wynkoop, founder and editor of SSWUG.ORG. DBTechCon will take place online at www.dbtechcon.com on April 20-22 and will have more than 70 sessions focused on databases and database technologies such as SQL Server, SharePoint, .NET and Business Intelligence. Keynote presenters for the second and third days of the virtual conference include Buck Woody, senior technical specialist of SQL Server at Microsoft, and Donald Farmer, product advocate at software developer QlikTech. Wynkoop also said the online conference format, compared to being held at a physical conference hall or convention center, has its advantages when concerning Baker’s presentation. “At a traditional tradeshow and convention, it is virtually impossible to attend every session provided to attendees,” he said. “However, you can watch Stephen’s keynote and all the sessions we’re providing from the comfort of your home or office.” For more information about the Spring 2011 edition of DBTechCon, visit www.dbtechcon.com.
