Announcing: San Diego Roofing Contractors Association (SDRCA) Member Dinner Event on Feb 24, 2011

The San Diego Roofing Contractors Association (SDRCA) will be holding a dinner on February 24, 2011 at the Lomas Sante Fe Country Club in Solana Beach, CA.

Feb. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- The dinner’s theme, “Stay in Step or Fall Behind” is dedicated to educating San Diego roofing professionals about new California state legislative measures, most notably the California Green Standards Building Code (CALGreen).

Aimed at creating sensible minimum standards for all new structures to significantly reduce California’s carbon emissions, CALGreen is the first statewide mandatory green building code in the nation.

Starting January 1, 2011, this groundbreaking code’s goal is to maximize energy resources, reduce water consumption, reduce building waste statewide, and reduce environmental impact during and after construction. The California Air Resources Board estimates that the mandatory provisions in this new code will reduce green house gases by 3 million metric tons by the year 2020.

To better understand how these new measures affect the roofing industry and building requirements in general, as well how Title 24 and CALGreen have evolved, the SDRCA has invited John Pohorsky, the Western Region Technical Services Director for GAF Materials Corporation to speak at the dinner.

John has been involved in the roofing industry since 1982, holding various positions with consulting firms, roofing contractors, and currently GAF as. He has been involved with RCI since 1982 and achieved his RRC credentials in 1988.

The information and insight that John will bring will undoubtedly help San Diego’s roofing professionals better understand how these mandatory measures will affect their business each day and allow them to “stay in step”.

The San Diego Roofing Contractors' Association (SDRCA) has been serving the Roofing Industry for over forty years.

It is the intent of the SDRCA to establish and maintain professional standards and practices in the Roofing Industry through education and public awareness. SDRCA members are committed to excellence and they use the benefits offered by the Association to help obtain this goal. The SDRCA is also a proponent of consumer education and is a valuable resource for home owners and property owners who need roofing done. The SDRCA protects consumers by educating the potential problems of dealing with an unlicensed, uninsured roofer.

The SDRCA was formed in 1957 to preserve and promote the art of roofing application. SDRCA members recognize that after 40 years of innovation in roofing technology and Application, the associations core goals are as meaningful and relevant today as they were yesterday and will be tomorrow.

The SDRCA remains a strong supporter of open competition and the free enterprise system; indeed, this competitive environment led to the success of its members. SDRCA members recognize that the perpetuation of such a healthy business environment is greatly influenced by their own professional conduct. This dinner meeting in February will help keep members who attend up to date on the newest laws, regulations and codes that not only effect their business  but also relate to end consumers.
