A few months later, the Walkers started putting their lives back together. After Habitat for Humanity was approved to build a new home on the same property, businesses gave fixtures and appliances. Tradesmen offered plumbing, wiring and roofing skills. Henry Evans of New Leaf Landscape was volunteering at the home site and knew they needed a new lawn. Evans immediately thought of North Georgia Turf. “When Henry called to tell us of this new home being built for the Walkers, we had to get involved,” said Helen Albrightson of NG Turf. Six pallets of Bermuda sod were donated to the home. “We want their children to have a yard to play in at their new home.” The Hall County community pulled together in this great time of need for the family. Many of the volunteers felt a debt to the family, and were grateful they could repay it.
