Bayshore Medical Center Has Received Center of Excellence Designation for Bariatric Surgery

Feb. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Bayshore Medical Center (BMC) was honored as an American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). SRC is an organization dedicated to improving the efficacy, efficiency, and safety of surgical care in hospitals around the world. The Center of Excellence designation is reserved for bariatric surgery programs around the world that have demonstrated a history of successful patient outcomes.

Jeff Holland, CEO of Bayshore Medical Center commented on how extremely proud and honored Bayshore Medical Center was to receive the recognition. The designation showcases the top level care patients receive through the bariatric program and it also signifies the excellent track record of the bariatric surgery program at Bayshore Hospital, Pasadena.

To award a Center of Excellence designation, SRC conducted site inspection and closely examined the surgical processes along with the data on health outcomes in the facility. Viola Hebert, RN, Director of Bariatric Services mentioned that the hospital was pleased that the medical community took time to recognize the hospitals that excel in surgical weight loss.

The bariatric program at Bayshore Medical Center offers a multi-disciplinary approach to the successful treatment of morbid obesity through the following procedures: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, LAP-BAND® System, gastric sleeve, and BPD with Duodenal Switch. In many cases, these procedures can be performed through laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive technique that is relatively gentle on the body and allows for a faster recovery.
