Feb. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Boughton Hall, Chester’s newest retirement community, has scooped gold at a national award ceremony recognising the best in retirement living.

The community, on Filkins Lane in Chester, was named Best UK Housing-With-Care Scheme 60-99 Units at the 2011 National Housing for Older People Awards.

Run by the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC), the awards - voted for by residents of retirement villages and homes nationwide - recognise specialist housing schemes which are the best in their field.

Boughton Hall’s prize-winner testimonial said: “Boughton Hall offers an independent, elegant lifestyle… Owners make life as relaxed or active as they want…”

BBC News anchorman Nicholas Own presented a certificate marking the win to Neil Davison of Enterprise Retirement Living and Jim Pegg of Barnardo Developments, the developers of the site.

Neil said: “We are delighted to have received this accolade from an organisation that works so hard to help raise the standards of housing for older people. When designing Boughton Hall our aim was to provide our residents with beautiful homes and the security of a community with on-going support when they needed it. To have received this award is testament to the fact we have delivered on that promise.”

Boughton Hall is a complete retirement community offering one and two bedroom luxury apartments and outstanding communal facilities, including a restaurant, bar, lounge, library, hair salon, gym and landscaped gardens. A team of staff take care of the external maintenance and gardening, freeing up residents of the privately owned apartments to spend their time as they choose.

Chief Executive of the EAC John Galvin said: “These awards not only recognise excellent standards in retirement housing, but are about involving older people in shaping its future – starting with those who live in it. We are committed to ensuring that older people, their families and carers have access to the best possible information and the awards are one way in which we achieve this.”
