Our Town News Launches Student Creative Writing Showcase

Feb. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- Coral Springs, Florida – February 11, 2011 - Our Town News (OTN) has launched a new feature this month to present creative writing by local students in their weekly community news magazine. With a goal of promoting reading and writing skills, student submissions will be published in the magazine and on the OTN website (http://www.TheOurTownNews.com). Presenting sponsors, Baptist Health Plazas and The Parkland YMCA will be providing prizes to be awarded for top submissions.

The new feature section is titled the “OTN Creative Writing Showcase” and will feature works from both middle and high school students in Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Tamarac and Margate. This showcase will allow students to contribute to the community through their creativity and writing talent. OTN is working with all of the local schools and other organizations to get teachers and parents to encourage students to submit original writing for the showcase. Entries should be no longer than 250-350 words. The OTN editorial staff will pick the submissions to be published in the magazine. Each student that has their writing published will have a chance to win prizes, including Florida Panthers tickets and VIP parking passes for the last home game of the 2011 season, a one-year family membership to the Parkland YMCA and two one-year individual memberships. Our Town News is a weekly publication and is available by email subscription; this makes the magazine available to the public. The section will be sponsored by the Parkland YMCA and the Coral Springs Baptist Health Plaza.
