Saracen International Unleashes the Raptor A Premiere Security Vehicle Protecting Political Figures
The Raptor is a Chevrolet Suburban outfitted with a concealed six-barrel Gatling gun that can pop out of the hood and fire 50 rounds a second in every direction.
Saracen International was started by William G. Lawrence and Tjaart Andre Van Der Walt, both of Phoenix. Bill Lawrence, an 83-year-old engineer interested in security, developed the vehicle. Lawrence stated "Essentially, I'm retired," adding that he's worked as an engineer for the last 60 years. "I'm a World War Two veteran who's been around the map." "When he left government service, King Hussein asked him if he could develop this vehicle," Lawrence says. "I later acquired the company."
Saracen has already sold 25 Raptors to Middle-Eastern clients. These machine-gun equipped GMC Suburban’s which cost over $350,000 ride along in the caravans of dignitaries, who themselves typically travel in bullet-proof limos. Saracen International makes the parts for the weapon system in the Arizona, but "often" assembles them overseas.
The Raptor is not something that you’d ever want to cut off in heavy traffic. You can watch its gunner blow up a hatchback on the below video.
Bill Lawrence an entrepreneur at heart also wants to be a pioneer of accessories for hookahs. He and his son, David, are starting a company that will sell magnetic links for hookah hoses and perforated foil for the tobacco to rest on. In the meantime he continues to run Saracen International fulfilling the need for a specialized vehicle designed to protect political figures.
