International masters of wine journey to Melbourne

Melbourne wine lovers are in for a treat this March, with Dan Murphy's Wines of the World, showcasing over 35 international winemakers at the SBS Food Journey Festival from the 4-6 of March, 2011.
 
Feb. 10, 2011 - PRLog -- Melbourne wine lovers are in for a treat this March, with 35 international winemakers to converge on the city to taste and talk about their best and brightest wines, as well as a series of free masterclasses exploring the enticing wines of Italy and France, all surrounded by some of the finest food of the world.

The perfect introduction to the world of European wines, or perhaps a refresher course for the more experienced wine drinker, the free masterclasses will be held as part of the Dan Murphy's Wines of the World, at the SBS Food Journey Festival from the 4-6 of March, 2011.

The masterclasses are open to all SBS Food Journey visitors on a first come, first served basis, and will be held in at the following times on the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday in March:

1:00pm - Burgundy Masterclass led by Andrew Caillard MW with Pierre Naigeon of labels Domaine Pierre Naigeon in Burgundy and Clos Pierre here in Australia, featuring eight wines from Pierre Naigeon, Louis Latour, Earl Dominique Mugneret and Simonnet Febvre.

3:00pm - Italy Masterclass led by Andrew Caillard MW with Antonio Zaccheo of Carpineto, Tuscany, featuring eight wines from Carpineto, Santa Margherita, Illuminati and Pio Cesare.

This event is one of the largest assembled premium imported consumer events to be held in Melbourne; the perfect opportunity for wine enthusiasts of all levels to taste their way through more than 300 Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, South American, South African, New Zealand and Australian wines. More than 35 international producers will be represented in the Wines of the World pavillion including leading international houses like: M. Chapoutier, Pio Cesare, Louis Latou, Grand Chais, Carpineto and Joseph Perrier.

When: Friday 4 March - 10am-8pm and Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 March - 10am-5pm, free masterclasses held at 1pm and 3pm each day

Ticket Sales: Entry into the Dan Murphy's World of Wine is included in the ticket for the SBS Food Journey Festival, $18 for adults, $16 concession. Tickets are available from www.foodjourney.com.au

Background:
The SBS Food Journey Festival is on the opening weekend of the 2011 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival and will be a cultural feast of international food, wine, music, dancing and fun.
