Gord Prior chosen to perform at this year's CMF
Gord Prior and his band to perform at this years CMF at Cherry Cola’s Rock N’ Rolla Cabaret. The venue is known to play host to a number of international stars while in the city. The band will hit the stage at 1:00am Saturday, March 12th.
Prior was asked to audition for the position of lead vocalist in Slash’s Velvet Revolver after Scott Weiland’s departure back in August of 2009. A Youtube posted video of that audition went viral reaching well over one million hits with rumours circulating the internet and media that Prior was Velvet Revolver’s new front man. “Of course this was just a rumour” says Prior. The rumour was put to rest in a headline story that came out in RollingStone.com
Gord Prior's music career as a singer began in the mid 80’s while touring relentlessly across Canada, cutting his teeth with a number of Ontario based cover bands and recording acts, as well as working on the side lines with a number of fellow Canadian artists such as Helix, Lisa Dalbello and most recently, London based all girl Metal act, Kittie.
2011 sees Prior with his newly released independent solo project entitled: These Are Killers, available for download on the Band Camp web site. Prior is the sole writer and performer of the collection of 10 songs that were produced and recorded by Siegfried Meier at Beach Road Studios, on Lake Huron.
Known for his intense and passionate live performances, Prior says “I like to bring the audience on a journey. In that moment we are all in on it together.”
