Feb. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Our pets bring us joy, companionship and are often times in-tune with our emotions. So on Valentine’s Day, it makes perfect sense to share the season of love with our faithful furry companions! VIP Pets offers these invaluable suggestions for making Valentine’s Day a momentous occasion for your pets:

1. A Doggy Play Date

Your dog won’t be able to contain his excitement when he discovers you are devoting this time to him while providing him ample time for some exercise. Here are a few play date locations:
•   a walk to the park
•   an afternoon drive
•   a trip to the leash-free dog park
•   a lake outing
•   a stroll along the beach

2. Dinner for Two

Take a picnic lunch with you to the park or have dinner at an outdoor pet-friendly cafe. Aside from your love, food is the most important thing in a dog’s mind. Be sure to include his favorite food and some special treats.

3. Staying In & Cuddling

For those less active dogs or homebound kitty cats, a day of love and affection will go a long way. Our animals don’t have great needs; they just want our love and attention. So, if you devote some time to do just that, you will have made their day and strengthened your bond.

4. XOXO

Show your love by giving your four-legged friend a small gift on Valentine’s Day! A plush toy, ball or special treat will surely excite your pets and make you feel good too!

5.  I’ve Got a Friend in You

Valentine's is the perfect time to add a four-legged member to the family.  Your pet will love the companionship.  There are many animals in rescue shelters that need special love and this the perfect time to give one or two a loving home.  Visit your local animal shelter or rescue organization to find a new love in your life and make the perfect match. Remember to do your research and be ready to make the commitment to care for your new pet.
