By: Abby Herrera WHAT: Together with PhotoForce, Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest embarked on a photojournalism project last summer in an effort to Tell the Story of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The end result includes 25 powerful photographs – all generously printed by Pro Photo Supply – to be unveiled at the agency’s Wall of Wine event February 17. The images feature five sets of volunteers and children – known as matches: Big Couple John and Celeste with Little Brother Anthony, matched June 2010; Big Brother Earl with Little Brother Bobby, matched February 2010; Big Brother Elvyss with Little Brother Dillon, matched July 2010; Big Brother Don with Little Brother Kay, matched June 2010; and Big Sister Nikole with Little Sister Da'Neetrah, matched July 2008. After the Wall of Wine, the images will travel around Portland and SW Washington to various high-traffic locations in an effort to build awareness for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The event is free and the public is invited to attend, view the photos, and take a blind draw from a variety of fine wines donated by local collectors, distributors, and wine makers. With a $20 ticket an attendee could take home a bottle valued at over $100. Funds raised will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest.
