Feb. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Soufriere, Following the devastating effects of Hurricane Tomas three months ago, Soufriere saw the number of tourists coming to the town evaporate. Now a small hotel, The Still Beach House, is once again welcoming visitors with record numbers.

In October last year, the Category 1 hurricane struck, Saint Lucia and caused major devastation to the south of the Island, espically around the town of Soufriere. Tourism suddenly came to a standstill, as infrastrucutre was destroyed and many visitors had to be accommodated elsewhere. The damage caused is today still being counted and runs into millions of USD.

Renovations and Re-openings

Hotels which were closed are now re-open and have been for some two months.  The Still Beach House has reported a 20% increase on bookings for this year.  A spokesperon for the hotel said "Business has been good to date as we see that visitors are again returning to the Island". They added that other hotels in the area that lost some room stock, due to Hurricane damage,  were also seeing a good occupency so soon after the Hurricane. "It is encouraging that people know the Island is open for business as usual and they are showing that with there feet.

Soufriere is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the famous twin Piton Peaks.
