Feb. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- (Kingston - Jamaica) The parish of St. Mary located northeast Jamaica, is one of the country's smallest parishes in the county of Middlesex. It’s chief town and capital is Port Maria, located on the coast and it is also the birthplace of established dancehall reggae artistes, Capleton, Lady Saw, Ninja Man, Sizzla and Tanya Stephens.
Upcoming Reggae artiste Misa West was born and raised in Islington, St. Mary.  He became fascinated with the art of writing and performing songs from watching ‘the big guns’ perform, peeping through “zinc holes at Bamboo Lawn as a youth.” Zinc would be used as perimeter fencing at Bamboo Lawn, the infamous venue in the parish known to many for staging major events.  Misa West grew up playing drums at church but found out that such duty coincided with his, “Sunday cricket games.”  He recalled getting, “pinched” by some of the elderly women who attended his church whenever he was absent along with sentiments such as “you were not in church today to play for us we really missed you.”

Misa West left Islington, and became a member of the civil service group of Jamaica when he joined the Fire Brigade.  His love for music stayed with him so he decided to merge both his professional and music careers.  Now a Fire-Fighter/Entertainer, Misa West has already released a couple of songs.  His most current is a single entitle, ‘It Nuh Fair’ produced by his management company, CR3 Records.  The song is a social commentary that stirred a bit of controversy upon its release.  The lyrics suggests that Mr. West is defending the rights of all civil servants.  When asked if this was so, Misa West said that he writes about things happening around him but was quick to point out that the issues to which he sing about “are ungoing no matter which Government, present or past.” A video for, ‘It nuh Fair’ is currently in rotation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wxeq5tK0QGs.  CR3 Records is now working towards the release of Mr. West’s debut album.  The company hope to release this album ending March 2011.  CR3 Records has dropped "Misa West Street Mix" for free download!!!!  You can use the following link to retrieve your file: http://www.sendspace.com/file/tdjbd1
