The Global Institute of Lansing, James Madison High School provide high school curricula to refugees

James Madison High School today announced that it has been named the preferred provider of high school curricula to The Global Institute of Lansing which specializes in programs for refugees who have relocated to Lansing, MI.
 
Feb. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia – James Madison High School today announced that it has been named the preferred provider of high school http://www.ashworthcollege.edu/programs/high-school/ curricula to The Global Institute of Lansing, a St. Vincent Catholic Charity (STVCC) which specializes in programs for refugees who have relocated to Lansing, MI.

The Global Institute of Lansing and its parent organization, St. Vincent Catholic Charity (STVCC), help displaced adults improve their quality of life through vocational assistance, academic training and more. Participating students complete core classes to fulfill graduation requirements.

James Madison High School, a leader in distance education, was chosen because it offers a wide range of flexible and affordable accredited career-focused diploma and degree programs tailored to the needs of non-traditional adult students.

“Our high school diploma programs have been developed to specifically address the needs of working adults and non-traditional high school students, making JMHS a natural fit,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Vice President of Education for James Madison High School and Ashworth College. Ashworth College, a leader in distance learning is the parent company of James Madison.

“We’re excited to be working with The Global Institute of Lansing. They are committed to teaching adults the skills needed to become employable which can include completing their high school education,” Dr. Gargiulo added. “By helping these students earn a high school diploma, together we will be giving them significant career advantages, compared to not having a diploma or a GED.”

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, high school graduates can earn as much as 23% more per year compared to someone who did not receive their high school diploma.

Ashworth offers an extensive high school curriculum which includes high school correspondence courses and high school online diploma programs in general and college preparatory studies, vocational high school and a broad range of single high school courses.

Since the program’s inception, services have expanded over the years to include employment, education, outreach and health services in addition to resettlement.
