Home Moving Tips – How to save $$ moving

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Moving is stressful, lots of work and expensive.  It’s no wonder people cringe at the thought of moving their homes, but there are times it cannot be avoided.  So, why not use some home moving tips to help you save a few dollars?  

Home Moving Tip 1:  Instead of buying new boxes for your move or using ones which are small and not as useful which you get for free from the liquor store or grocery stores, why not contact a moving company and offer to buy their ‘slightly used’ boxes for less?  These boxes are from other customers’ previous moves and the mover will actually charge the customer for them, but if they’re not damaged, offer to buy them back.  

Home Moving Tip 2:  Instead of having a mover pack you articles, pack them yourself.  The packing time by a mover represents about ½ of the overall cost of the move.  They will give you guidelines to follow and estimates of the number of boxes you need depending on the number of rooms you’re moving.  Make it fun by having a ‘packing party’.  Of course, you have to limit the refreshments or have them after the work is done or your unpacking may have some surprises!
