Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- When my dog has diarrhea, it can be as difficult to manage as having diarrhea yourself or when your kids have diarrhea. Choosing the appropriate treatment for my dogs diarrhea always gives me a headache, because he may react adversely to some forms of treatment.

Diarrhea is characterised by frequent loose or fluid bowel movements, that may not allow the dog get out of the house in time and you could find some poop under the dinner table some times. It may just come out once, or more than once, but if it lasts for more than a day, call your Veterinarian.

Diarrhea is mostly caused by what has been eaten by the dog, contaminated food or trash. It is the dogs digestive systems way of rejecting/eliminating the bad things eaten by the dog. It may also be caused by food allergies, parasites(such as coccidia, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms), infections and indigestible foods. Dog diarrhea may also be caused by ingestion of anything alien to the body, like pesticides and cleaning solvents.

Treatment for dog diarrhea- steps to follow:

   * Do not feed your dog for up to 24hrs.
   * Give him lots of clean water to prevent dehydration
