reGeneration2 Faces Forward: Photography Book Series and Exhibit Translates to Virtual Show

Feb. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- The Forward Thinking Museum (FTM) launches Facing Forward – a virtual exhibit that showcases 45 young artists' vision of the future. Art historian Nathalie Herschdorfer and author William A. Ewing, who worked on the global photographic survey, exhibition and book series reGeneration via Musée de l'Élysée, curated Facing Forward. The photographers featured are rising talents from renowned photography schools around the world.

"How do emerging photographers see the world?" says Herschdorfer. "How much do they respect, build on, or reject tradition? These questions were raised when William Ewing and I worked on reGeneration2: Tomorrow’s Photographers Today. Curious to see their developments, we invited [reGeneration participants] to submit images for the Forward Thinking Museum. We asked them to experiment, to unleash their imagination, to explore diverse takes on future. Inherently, we asked them to respond to the theme of forward-thinking."

The result? A diverse array of compelling futuristic imagery – haunting and frightening, mysterious and inciting, abstract and idealistic. Two prevailing themes are the decaying urban environment, and issues of lost or uncertain identity, which seems to highlight a rising concern for an unstable future in the minds of these young artists.
