Brookfield Reduces Mello-Roos on New Homes in San Marcos

Feb. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- Brookfield Homes has paid off one of the Mello-Roos bonds at Mahogany at Old Creek Ranch in San Marcos, creating a lower overall tax rate. According to the builder, the new Mello-Roos fee and ad valorem tax bring the overall tax rate to 1.17 percent; a significantly lower rate than other San Marcos and Carlsbad communities.

“Because there are so many economic pressures when buying a new home, we’ve decided to make monthly house payments at Mahogany more affordable with a lower tax rate. At 1.17 percent, buyers will save approximately $200
