Service Foods Selected as Finalist for the Atlanta’s Healthiest Employers Awards

The new awards event from the Atlanta Business Chronicle will honor employers who are role models for supporting a healthy lifestyle

Jan. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- Service Foods, a leading provider of organic and all-natural foods for home delivery, has been named as a finalist for the Atlanta’s Healthiest Employers Awards. The first-ever awards are being presented by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, a leading business publication that provides executives and professionals in-depth stories about the industries, business trends, events and people in Metro Atlanta.

Winners of the Healthiest Employers Awards will be named on February 18 during a ceremony at the Georgia Aquarium. In addition to the awards ceremony, the event will also include breakfast, a networking session and a keynote address by Jason Lang, the Team Lead of Workplace Health Programs for the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The Atlanta's Healthiest Employers Awards are being sponsored by Piedmont Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, Ogletree Deakins and Work Life Solutions.

The awards are in line with Service Foods’ (http://www.ServiceFoods.com) strong emphasis on healthy living. The company’s vision is to improve America’s health through education, proper nutrition, all-natural food and expert fitness training, thus helping to end the healthcare crisis in America. This approach is part of Service Foods’ infrastructure and is promoted to its clients, strategic partners and employees.

Service Foods’ team of health professionals work with employees both as a group and individually to help them live healthier lifestyles. The company’s registered dietitian provides health assessments, and the in-house registered nurse, certified fitness experts and certified all-natural chefs help with additional details of the individual programs. The services are offered to employees at no charge, and are designed to address each individual’s health concerns, such as diabetes or high blood pressure.

Furthermore, the company’s fully aged, all-natural Black Angus beef; super-select pork; Grade-A, free-range poultry; sashimi-grade seafood; and Grade-A natural and organic fancy vegetables are provided to employees at cost.

Service Foods (http://www.ServiceFoods.com) also promotes wellness programs and contests such as “The Biggest Loser” for its employees. More than 90 percent of employees participate in these programs, and prizes are frequently awarded to participants who lose weight, lower their blood sugar, stop smoking or improve their running times. During the company’s last 90-day contest, 32 employees collectively lost 436 pounds, four people quit smoking, blood pressure was lowered by 204 points, glucose levels were lowered by 77 points and bad cholesterol levels were lowed by 389 points.

“I believe that a healthy employee is a happy employee, and the feedback from our employees on our programs has been excellent. We’re very proud of our programs and pleased to be a finalist for the Atlanta’s Healthiest Employers Awards,” says Dr. Keith Kantor, Service Foods’ CEO. “Since the products and services we provide to our clients are all-natural food and healthy living, our employees feel that participating allows them to better help our clients. I think it’s easy to see how Service Foods’ vision and wellness programs go hand in hand, and I believe that if every company had a strong wellness program, we could end the healthcare crisis in America.”
