Braces Give Psychological Boost, Says Langley Invisalign Provider
Dr. Aly Kanani, a Langley Invisalign specialist, explains the psychological advantages brought about by straighter teeth.
"In the office, we often see a shy child or adult who doesn't want to show his or her teeth when smiling," remarks Kanani, a Langley invisalign braces provider. "But, once they are finished with treatment, they notice how much their smile has improved and they proudly display their teeth. We find it a very rewarding experience."
Langley orthodontist Kanani has seen research to back up anecdotal evidence. A study by the English Medical Research Council studied 174 children (ages 8 to 10) and learned that they "felt far better about themselves overall” after they had orthodontic treatment, according to an article in the Daily Mail.
"We're extremely pleased by the results of this trial," the study's director, Professor Kevin O’Brien, said. "We've successfully realigned children's teeth, but most dramatically, it has changed children's perception of themselves."
"Feeling self-conscious about your smile isn't something that happens just to children," observes Kanani, a Langley invisalign expert (http://www.invisibleorthodontics.ca/
The American Association of Orthodontics explains on its website that it has been clinically proven that a nice smile can improve self-esteem. One reason is that orthodontic treatment can bring lips, teeth and face into proportion. "These changes can have a positive impact on social and career success, improving the patient’s entire attitude," says Kanani, a Surrey invisalign provider (http://www.guildfordorthodontics.com/
